Here's how I picture it:
At first, she thought it was only her thick socks and cumbersome casts that were making her sweat. Then she heard a noise. Then there were approaching shadows.
She lifts her crutch like it's an extention of her fist, cocking it defensively at her side, and inadvertently leans on her badly broken ankle. She winces, trying to block out the pain and convince herself that she's ready to fend off whatever it was that cast such a large shadow in the alley.
She wonders, in a panic, how long she could hope to put up a fight with a crutch in one hand and another that could scarcely maintain a grip on a can of soda. She wonders how she can possibly get away when she could barely manage a hobbled limp, much less run.
And about what I drew: I modeled this drawing after a picture I drew of a female superhero. I wanted to see if I could take the exact same pose and turn a picture of bravery and determination into one of acute vulnerability. So the eyebrows turned up instead of down, and two casts and a crutch took the place of a cape.

Cool! how does the story continue?
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew! This was mostly about changing the drawing of a super-girl into a drawing of an almost completely helpless one.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you imagine?
